Tether Launches Scudo Unit for Gold-Backed XAUT Token to Enhance Usability
Tether has introduced a new fractional unit called Scudo for its gold-backed token XAUT, mirroring Bitcoin's satoshi concept. Each Scudo represents one-thousandth of a troy ounce of gold, enabling precise microtransactions as bullion prices climb.
The innovation addresses practical challenges in blockchain-based Gold trading by eliminating cumbersome decimal points. Transactions can now be denominated in whole Scudo units while maintaining XAUT's 1:1 gold peg at the macro level.
This MOVE follows Tether's pattern of infrastructure refinement, having previously optimized stablecoin transaction mechanics. The Scudo rollout coincides with renewed institutional interest in tokenized commodities as inflation hedges.
